The Rev. Francis S. Fullerton, S.J., papers consist of two notebooks of poetry in manuscript and several loose manuscript poems. The first notebook was presented to Fullerton by H. M. Calmer, S.J. and the second dedicated to him by A. J. Tisdall, S.J. Both notebooks contain original poems, many signed and dated by Jesuits at the Frederick (Md.) Novitiate and Woodstock College of Maryland. Other poems have been copied from the works of various English and American authors. The loose manuscript poems are by John J. Becket, S.J., Thomas H. Stack, S.J., and Virginia Rebeca Roberts, a Visitation sister.

Francis Fullerton was born on March 10, 1849 and entered the Jesuit novitiate at Frederick, Md., on Aug. 1, 1868. In 1873 he began his studies at Woodstock College of Maryland, followed by Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Mass. (1876), College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Mass. Thomas Stack was born on July 3, 1845 in Union, Virginia to parents John and Mary Stack. He enrolled in the Virginia Military Institute, but his studies were halted due to the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861. Stack enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1863. Following the end of the war, Stack went on to resume his studies at Georgetown College. Stack completed his studies in 1868, and entered the Society of Jesus on September 1 of the same year.
